A fantastic visit today to Loughborough Station with an elderly gentleman that I take out. The staff and volunteers were so welcoming and helpful - from the very first phone call I made right throughout our visit. The chap in the picture went above and beyond to help us and ensure that our visit was perfect. There is a lift for anyone with mobility issues to take you down to the platform. The restored engine was simply stunning. The carriages were clean, the stations were all lovely and nostalgic, and the cake was delicious!! Cannot fault anything. A really memorable visit - we will definitely be back!

I've been to the GCR Diesel Gala a few times, it has always been great - the stations are well-kept, the trains are full of friendly people. The GCR staff are good at their jobs, plenty of smiles and good food and drink. The dining train experience is also recommended!

“IT WAS SO GOOD. We went on the spring diesel gala and we went on the D6700 and the 26043 trains btw do you know the 67 meme? We wanted to go on Iris but it was too full (this did not suit me and my needs sorry) There was a bit of a queue at the station but it was fine.” Above are the words of a student I was accompanying who thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Thanks to the staff who were all very helpful with our needs. Disabled people can get a discount (and a discount for an accompanying adult) but you need to call to ask about it.

Great Station, lots of history and things to see and do. Good little museum. Clean and tidy toilets. Cafe was nice although could do with some non dairy milk options for those with allergies. Lovely warm waiting rooms with real fireplaces! Staff on platforms to the gift shop were all really friendly and welcoming

Absolutely wonderful experience, fine 1st class dining on the Great Central Railway. It was a beautiful day and after walking around the station had a short trip on a diesel down to Rothley and back to Loughborough. Following that we boarded our steam train. Our table in the 1st class carriage looked beautiful. The meal was superb, tasty, beautifully presented and piping hot. Impeccable service too. All in all a wonderful experience all round
