An impeccably amazing and brilliant attraction in North Wales near to Holywell. The heritage park covers the history of the area and the industries such as farming and heavy industries where the displays about these subjects are extremely informative and interesting and keep you enthralled throughout your visit. There are a number of different places to visit and these are Cwm Llydan, Pond, Maze, Historic Gardens, Pentre, Combine Barn, Forge, Bakehouse & Pigsty, Coleshill Barn, Woodland Trails, The Hatch, Shippon, Victorian Schoolroom and Bakehouse/Cafe. The Cwm Llydan details the farmhouse life for people and showcases the conditions they lived in and Cwm Llydan gives a wonderful homely feel to it. The Pentre is another farmhouse you can visit and you can see how they lived and see information about their life and the historic gardens attached to it and have wonderful dazzling displays of colour from the borders. The Woodland trails provide a nice relaxing pleasant stroll of the local surroundings. In the Abbey Barn you can see great examples of Farmyard machinery such as Threshing Machines and learn how they work and also you can see a Combine Harvester in the Combine Barn and learn further information about how the rural and farming community worked the area. In the Forge you can see a great example of a Blacksmith Workshop and also in the Shippon you can learn about the heavy industries including Copper. There are some animals you can see including Tamworth Pigs, Harlequin Ducks and Sheep and they are very well looked after in their enclosures. There is also a Victorian Schoolroom where you a great example of what a Victorian Schoolroom looked like and also learn about what the school day looked like, which is very fascinating. There is also Basingwerk Abbey which attached to the premises and you can wander around the spectacular ruins which are magnificent. There is a shop selling a lovely range of souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this is an insightful, intriguing and interesting place to visit and makes for an exciting and brilliant day out. Definitely well worth a visit whilst in the area of Holywell and Flint.

Lovely site with free parking. Beautiful cafe and park on site. You have to pay £9 for the museum, but its worth every penny. The lady in the shop was so friendly. We will be back when we visit North Wales again.

We visited earlier today. As it was a bank holiday we expected it to be busy but that was not the case. We paid the entry fee to go into the museum and play area and it was well worth it. They had a special event where children could plant seeds to take home which my son enjoyed. There was a small soft play which is kitted out to build a tractor. Mini tractors to play on. The outdoor play area was large with swings, slides, treehouses and water play. Also a huge maze of tunnels. It was more than we expected. The heritage museum section was interesting with local history and old machinery. There was plenty we didn't get to see. The cafe was efficient with friendly staff. Toilet facilities across the park were good. We would like to come again and perhaps explore a bit more.

Excellent heritage park, covering quite a large area. Some information boards which are very helpful. Quite amazing to imagine what it was like in it's heyday. Lovely place for a walk, looking at the wildlife in the pools. Large car park, free. Cafe and museum

Just wanted somewhere nice to picnic on a very sunny day. Had not been to Basingwerk for years so decided to visit the ruins again and picnic at the site. A beautiful ruin of a once huge abbey!
