Appalling signposting (useless wooden posts revealing nothing) spoil a visit to Grizedale. Andy Goldsworthy's Wall is very difficult to find. Is it worth it? Yes - if you like looking at funny-shaped walls after a steep 1.5 mile climb along stony trails.

I spent a day walking around Grizedale in March, having decided to follow the forestry commission red markers trail. I parked out from the visitors centre and followed the well marked signage. I stopped for lunch at Café Ambio at the visitors centre, had an excellent goats cheese flatbread. My walk took me all day covering 11 miles, slightly further than I anticipated, the scenery and forest is beautiful and I hardly met anyone giving a true wilderness peaceful experience. The sculptures around the area can be hard to pick out at times but the trails are well marked.

A great place to come with a family, there are so many activities to do including cycling trails (plus bike hire), Walking trails, Go Ape, kids play area, sculpture artwork trail. The car parking is automated using an ANPR camera and so you pay on exit using the machines using your registration plate number. Enjoy!

Excellent day out with plenty of fantastic walks and plenty to see. There are bike trails here, but they don't appear to be for the uninitiated. The visitor centre is OK with a popular cafe and toilets. I noticed an Observatory and planetarium just of the main carpark and the obligatory Go Ape.

Had a lovely walk along one of the shorter routes at Grizedale. Path was all paved so easy walking. Stunning views and points of interest along the route. Buffalo trail to follow for the kids. We had cakes and drinks at the cafe before we left, Nice cakes and drinks but typically expensive.
