I have been going to Grove Ferry for decades and it is a great place. This time we went kayaking along the Stour with friends. We have been kayaking in the sea for years and this was the first time we had kayaking on a river. The experience of being on the river is very different. I found rowing up river amazing, I loved seeing all the wildlife and our friends saw beavers. However, the starting point was chaotic, families had been drinking and spent time throwing children into the river, this made steering and starting off tricky. At one point, a novice rammed my kayak, shouted sorry as they tipped me over. Once you get past this point it is amazing and a memorable experience. I think it is worth thinking about what time you go to enjoy this.

Stopped for lunch with my granddaughter on way home from Canterbury nice little spot, but the pub/restaurant doesn't open on Mondays so I will remember that for the future, but my granddaughter had her packed lunch and we was able to get a cold drink from a van around the corner near the river and there was still access to the adventure playground. The kiacks and cannons you could hire looked fun if you wanted that sort of thing, but my granddaughter is far too young and was happy in the playground and I can't swim so was happy just to watch 😀

Got there at 8.58am and carpark was half full so not sure when they really open! Some people were packing up paddle boards so probably open closer to 7? Good site, easy to launch small craft here. Refreshments and toilets supplied. Cheap parking £3.50 all day.

Lovely place. Busy during day but really peaceful later. Interesting food wagon. Toilets clean. Fair price to park. Warden Mark, friendly and really helpful.

Nice little spot for a quiet walk on a sunny day with nice water side pub just as a cherry on top
