Spent a day in Guilford as a tourist and had seen the cathedral from the castle. A long impressive drive up to this magnificent modern art building from the 1960's. When you get close it is even more impressive in it's size and scale, the internal arches are stunning and well worth a wander round the inside, which also houses all the religious paraphernalia going back centuries in it's own little museum. There is plenty of parking and it also has it's own shop and a great little café.

I'm rating The Beatles by Candlelight concert here as well as the cathedral. The cathedral, whilst lovely, is not good for this kind of music. Sorry but The Beatles was a group of 4 and certainly didn't have a female singer. Enjoyed it but wouldn't go again. Tickets advised there was minimal parking at The Cathedral and to park on the college campus which we did but the signposting to then get to the cathedral is almost non existent so we had to ask for directions a few times and then got there to find there was plenty of parking available. I have never sat in such uncomfortable chairs. Difficult to find our way back to the car park in the dark. Lots of derelict student accommodation about.

Lovely cathedral. Pity it looks like a power station! Town Centre and Bus Station desperately in need of cleaning and an upgrade. Staff at the cathedral are delightful and were keen to support Clare’s Women Changemakers photo show.

Big and beautiful, with a peaceful surroundings. Lots of interesting things related to local history and community. Volunteer guides are very helpful, but you can explore on your own, using very detailed plans provided in the leaflet. Don't forget to check out the lovely Children's Garden within the cathedral grounds!

Guildford's most recognisable landmark, this modernist cathedral was designed in the 1930s by Edward Maufe, and consecrated in 1961. The imposing red brick tower is visible from much of Guildford thanks to the cathedral's elevated position at the top of Stag Hill, affording it good views over town. The cathedral's exterior is simple, but with enough detail not to appear austere. The statues on the west front are the newest feature, added in 2005. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by how bright and spacious the cathedral felt, the large windows allowing an abundance of natural light to reach the building's interior. High ceilings and towering arches further enhance the sense of space. The cathedral is very well maintained, spotlessly clean inside and out. The blue ceiling decoration and sparkling organ pipes stand out amongst internal features. Services are held regularly and events are hosted on special occasions, so it's worth checking the website before visiting to be sure you'll be able to look inside. There's accessible onsite parking for visitors to the cathedral, while a café, shop and toilet facilities are located inside.
