Lovely park, free parking, nice little cafe, decent toilets, have a ramp up to them as well as stairs to make it easier for pushchairs and people who need wheelchairs. The main attraction for us with granddaughter was the ducks & geese, absolutely loads, you can buy small bags of food(grains) for 30p, in a tin next to the kiosk with a pot for money, so I hope everybody pays, because the money is for the park & the food. Small play area, & plenty of room to run around, there is another play area further round but we didn't walk that far, there is a circular walk.

★★★★★ Breathtaking 10k loop with perfect coffee stop Just did my 10k walk at Harold Odell Country Park and the views were absolutely breathtaking. The scenery kept me motivated the whole way round. The path loops perfectly for steps, well-maintained and easy to follow. Bonus: Dragon Café serves perfect coffee for a post-walk reward. Planning another visit with the family this time :)

I visited Harrold‑Odell Country Park on a warm early spring weekend, and it was the perfect place to unwind. The lake looked beautiful in the gentle sunlight, with swans and ducks gliding across the calm water, a peaceful backdrop that immediately sets the tone for a relaxing day. One of the highlights for me was the bird watching hide. The park attracts a surprising variety of birds, from familiar waterfowl to seasonal migrants, making it a great spot for anyone who enjoys wildlife watching. Even if you’re not a bird enthusiast, it’s incredibly calming to sit inside the hide, listen to the soft rustling of reeds, and watch nature unfold quietly in front of you. The park has an interesting history too. Once a gravel extraction site, it has been thoughtfully restored into a mix of lakes, meadows, and wetlands, which explains its unique landscape and rich biodiversity. I walked the circular trail around the lake, which is flat, easy, and full of lovely viewpoints. Families will appreciate the well maintained playground and the spacious picnic areas, perfect for a relaxed day out. There’s also a café nearby if you want a warm drink or snack. Overall, the park feels peaceful without being empty, lively without being crowded. Whether you’re walking, bird watching, or simply enjoying the sunshine by the water, Harrold‑Odell Country Park is a wonderful weekend destination.

A few miles from Bedford Town centre, this country park has beautiful panoramic views over the lakes. There are various options for walks, picnics, fishing and other amenities. Car parking is free although there is an optional £1.00 donation towards the upkeep of the vast park. A cafe offers a wide range of options. Everything from a full English breakfast to paninis, sandwiches, pastries and drinks/refreshments. Option of eating indoors, on the patio or on one a numerous outdoor park benches. Other amenities include a small skateboard area and an outdoor gymnasium. Excellent location for enjoying the outdoors in a well maintained parkland.
