We had a lovely day, friendly staff. Nice walk down to the sea by the little cottage used in sense and sensability. The gardens are beautiful and definitely worth the walk. The house is very nice with lots of interesting things. There's all so a little museum and shop. The tea room is well stocked with some lovely flood.

Lovely gardens and abbey set in a peaceful valley alongside the Abbey River. There are paths leading both to the coast at Blackpool Mill and inland to a productive walled garden. There is a lot of variety here, including the historic house, exhibition area, tea rooms, and a number of gardens, each with its own character. On the hillside above the approach drive is the Ladies Walk, it’s a wooded area with a bog garden and a Victorian fernery. Across the public road and beyond the front drive is the walled garden, which is especially impressive in the summer. At the upper end of this garden is a summerhouse and beyond are glasshouses. To the south of the abbey, near the exit, is a woodland garden which is full of interest. In spring, it features flowering rhododendrons, camellias, and azaleas, followed later in the season by hydrangeas. To the west of the main car park, there is a lovely walk to the coast at Blackpool Mill, mostly along private paths, with some great views. I'd been walking the peninsula and planned to visit on my way back to Hartland. It's a lovely historical house with lots of history and paintings and furniture. It has a lovely walled garden too. It's well worth the visit.

Absolutely brilliant. Easy parking, loveliest staff. The gardens are so pretty, we came in Easter, very lucky with weather, and the site had plenty of cars parked up but we barely met anyone. It didn't feel crowded at all. Our kids ranging from 11 to 19 enjoyed everything about this place, including the inside and definitely the Malory Towers details. Very dog friendly (though he couldn't go inside of course)
