Hatton Locks is one of the most impressive canal landmarks in England. Watching the narrowboats climb the famous "Stairway to Heaven" through 21 locks is a unique experience. Peaceful, historic, and definitely worth a visit!

Finally got to see the stairway to heaven- aka Hatton locks up close( saw from Hatton Arms last year after Tulip farm). The parking was £3 for 2 hrs or £4.50 all day. Th pub is close by as was the lock café- we didn't go in but the café was bustling. The locks are an amazing feat of engineering & we enjoyed watching 2 boats abreast go up the lock. The towpath was clear & easy to walk along. Great place for fresh air & nature. Will definitely return. Was a bit chilly in the shade but worth getting cold for!

Artist paneer for walking and biking. 21 locks and you can walk up and downs the hill. If you have not seen British canal lock system, you can see this in full action as several boats will be going up or down the hill. You are able to catch sight of birds as you walk. It is free. There is a party and display car park. There is a cafe and also a pub which looked busy on the adjacent main road.

Must have/do: a scone from the cafe!! And thank you to the friendliest ladies who served us even though they were closing up.

Lovely spot for a walk and fascinating to watch the barges passing through the locks. There is also a cafe if you fancy refreshments. Was quite quiet when we visited on a Friday afternoon. I can imagine parking could be a challenge at a busier time.
