Visit websiteGreat place to visit on your own or as a family. £12.50 return. There us a cafe on the platform and a gift shop. Staff fabulous friendly train conductor. The smell of the steam was lovely lol. There Alison also a bridge where you can stand and take photos from. Also a kids play area.
Took the grandchildren on the steam train . A short journey but they enjoyed it.the conductor was cheery and entertaining with the children. On arrival at the station we had plenty of fun in the park whilst waiting for the train to return. We were hingry so opted for food and drink at the station to the tune of £34.90! For 2 sausage rolls, 2 sandwiches , a milkshake - £7 the most expensive I've ever seen! And a fruitshoot and 2 packets of crisps. Sadly we had to rush for the train at the aquarium and had left our picnic bag in the car. Witha due ticket for aquarium , train ride, lunch and oarking it was just shy of £100 for a day out.
We had a wonderful experience on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway! We were a group of five (two couples and one baby), and it was a lovely day out. We bought return tickets, and the train journey was relaxing with beautiful views throughout the route. It was a hot, sunny day, which made the scenery even more enjoyable. There was plenty of parking available, making it easy to visit. Our baby's ticket was free. We also enjoyed browsing the gift shop at the station and picked up some lovely Lake District souvenirs. There are some nice attractions nearby as well. There's a park that's great for older children, while younger children can enjoy the small miniature train. We also enjoyed the nearby walking trails, which made the visit even more worthwhile. Overall, it was a great experience, and we'd happily recommend it to anyone visiting the Lake District.
Beautiful location, lucky....superb weather Staff very helpful. Plenty for even little ones to do Lovely walks and picnic area. Got the steam train to Windermere for Bowness Very nostalgic! Highly recommend a visit Café, shop and free toilets
What a fab day out. A very pretty station and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The staff in the cafe were so much fun and really seemed to enjoy their work. Great customer service all round and the food was really tasty. There is a a children's play park and a short woodland walk at the station. The walk is steep so isn't suitable for wheelchairs and might be a stretch for very young children but that's clearly signposted. The train trip is short, around 18 mins but lovely, and nostalgic and I'm pretty sure most children with be excited entering the steamy tunnel. Guide books and children's activity books are sold on the train for £5. There's a cafe and an aquarium at Lakeside and the company do various boat trip packages. The views are amazing. I would recommend families do one of the package trips including boat trip with either an Aquarium or Beatrix Potter visit. Really a great day out for adults and children alike.
