Explore scenic waterfront parkland with play equipment, sensory gardens, and stunning Belfast Lough views perfect for families.

Hazelbank Park is a beloved waterfront destination situated on the shores of Belfast Lough in Newtownabbey, offering panoramic views across the water to County Down. Built on the grounds of a historic estate, the park preserves mature trees and heritage plantings from its formal gardens and orchard, creating a beautiful natural setting for outdoor family activities. The park features a dedicated play area with equipment for children, alongside a specially designed sensory garden with accessible 2-metre pathways and raised planting beds. Visitors can enjoy paddling in summer months, picnicking on the grounds, or taking leisurely walks through the landscaped terrain. The Coronation Garden, opened by King Charles III in May 2023, adds to the park's attractions. Beyond the main park, families can explore Gideon's Green and Whitehouse Lagoon, which offers excellent birdwatching opportunities. The venue is also a starting point for the National Cycle Way, allowing visitors to cycle along the loughshore towards Belfast via the Lagan Towpath. Nearby Whiteabbey village provides additional amenities including cafés and shops, making it ideal for full-day family outings.

Beautiful park! Took a little walk along the shore, checked out the royal gardens and the kids played in the play park too! Fantastic day out and lots of resturants nearby to finish it all off. 100% recommend

Lovely family day out at Hazelbank Park, Newtownabbey 🌷 The Coronation Garden is absolutely stunning right now — full of colourful tulips and even features music with dancing plants, which the kids absolutely loved! There’s plenty of space for a relaxing walk, a great play area for children, and if you keep walking down, you’ll reach the shore for a peaceful seaside stroll. Watching the Stena Line ships pass by was a nice bonus 🚢 Perfect spot to visit on a dry day with family. A really well-spent day!

Lovely park with good facilities. Walk, run, cycle or play and don't forget the wee beach when the tide is out. Great views across Belfast Lough. It's truly a great spot for a picnic, BBQ or ice cream.
