Heartwood Forest is a lovely place to visit. The walk begins with views of horses, and you can choose between short or longer trails depending on your preference. I first visited in March hoping to see the bluebells—there’s a dedicated one-acre area for them—but they hadn’t bloomed yet. I returned in the third week of April, which turned out to be slightly too late, as many of the bluebells were already drying out. I’d recommend visiting around mid-April for the best display. We ended our walk with a relaxing picnic before heading back, which was a great way to finish the trip. One thing to note is that there are no public toilets within the forest, so you’ll need to plan ahead and find facilities nearby.

Beautiful day ... beautiful place. Very well kept and very well organised. Volunteers on site extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Free entrance and free parking. The bluebells were amazing.

Come in the right season- when the bluebells are blooming - and you get an amazing experience. We had a national trust so the parking was free. We also climb the monument for a great view. Nice day trip from North West London.

Lovely walks, lots of which are hard standing so won’t get too muddy as it gets into winter. Good amount of free parking and map is clear and gives suggestions of different routes.
