Henlow Common and Langford Meadows is a 13-hectare local nature reserve featuring wet grassland, scrub habitat and the scenic River Ivel. Dam's Ditch, a former river channel running through the centre, creates ideal conditions for diverse wildlife including kingfishers, terns, mute swans and the elusive otter. The reserve's grassland is actively managed by cattle from April to September, which graze the coarser grasses and allow wild flowers to flourish. Spring visitors can spot marsh marigold and cuckooflower, while barn owls frequently hunt at dusk across the open landscape. A circular walking route follows the riverbank, offering peaceful countryside exploration for all ages. Dogs are welcome throughout the site but must be kept under control, especially near the grazing cattle. The venue is free to access and suitable for families with children of all ages. While the informal paths can become muddy after heavy rain, the site remains open year-round. Lovely walk by The Ivel but the River certainly need some attention baby ducks are finding it difficult to navigate it especially Riverside Gardens end

Beautiful walks for miles and miles - perfect for dog walking as you don't have to see a road for some time. Bring wellies most of the year round though as can get very wet although doable in walking boots if you stick to the better paths.

Great big space of common land. Plenty of room to exercise. Some parts can be boggy during Autumn/Winter but can be easily avoided. Also leads to access further West towards the Navigation part of the canal.
