Pay want you want but £5pp is recommended. Very interesting, i attended for the 110 year if battle of the somme. Loved to here about the different guns etc. Nice cafe onsite too
I didn't think I would enjoy this place but found it very interesting from a social history point of view. Staff are very knowledgeable too. The lady at the entrance was born only a few houses away too. It is a donation to enter and you pay what you can afford or want to. Lovely little tea room attached as part of the museum too. Definitely be back for some of the events later in the year. Lots to read. Some games and things for children to do around. Small children need to be kept an eye on as when you can get up with the guns, there are not any rails around to stop you falling. You can even hold a rifle or 2, habd grenade, try on hats in the 'armoury'. I took over 100 photos but only put a few on here so it won't spoil your own visit.
My first time visit here and it was most certainly not disappointing. The staff were so welcoming and helpful upon arrival and your up close and personal with fantastic exhibits the moment you step over the threshold of the shop. It then opens out into the battery where there's some fantastic examples of military hardware such as a Chieftain tank and some amazing artillery pieces. Inside the battery itself is a fantastically recreated trench section that really gives you a feel of what it would have been like, and back on the ground level is an armoury room which holds yet more amazing pieces such as a Vickers gun and many other pieces. The toilets are clean and the cafe is lovely and reasonably priced. I had such a great time here and will look forward to returning.
We absolutely loved it. Its so interesting. The staff were all fantastic. Very friendly and informative knowledge about everything. I would 100 percent recommend a visit. Plus dogs welcome and it's ideal for them to get in. Great place and thanks for looking after us.
I absolutely loved this place! If you’re a fan of military history, you’re in for a real treat. At just £5, it’s a total steal. What stood out most was the staff; they were friendly and accommodating without being overbearing. They’re happy to dive into the details with you or simply let you explore at your own pace. A fantastic day out! I would upload more pictures but I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't been. The cafe that's attached to museum was also good. Nice coffee and friendly staff.
