Hodgkin Park, also known as Benwell Dene, is a cherished neighbourhood park donated to the people of Newcastle in 1899 by prominent banker Thomas Hodgkin. The park spans two sections separated by Armstrong Road, with the northern portion offering a quieter, more intimate setting and the southern area providing a more open, family-friendly environment. Refurbished in 2013, the southern park now features a dedicated children's play area and water features that are particularly popular with families. The park also showcases three notable sculptures – Paradise Gate, Metrolands Arbour, and Nine Lives by William Pym – adding cultural interest to visits. Hodgkin Park is a charming, well-kept park with plenty of space for relaxation and outdoor activities. The peaceful atmosphere, playgrounds, and beautiful green areas make it a great spot for families or anyone looking to enjoy some time in nature. A lovely hidden gem in Newcastle!

It's a nice place for a picnic, with playarea and nice trails to walk with kids on adventure. Close up trees to hang a hammock and wide space to look up to the nice blue sky in the summer

Could do with better maintenance. However good place to walk the dog whilst your other half and child play on the park.

Beautiful local park. Lovely scenery and hidden pathways. Would recommend a visit, especially during summer time.
