Rented a paddleboard with my daughter and had lunch in the small cafe by the canal afterwards. Paddling along the canal was a very relaxing way of spending an hour on a hot summer day and the process of collecting and returning the boards (and lifejackets supplied was quick and easy. The equipment is limited, so I would recommend booking online in advance. Parking was easy, in the large, free car park next door (closes at 4pm). The hub is a lovely spot and the staff in both the watersports hire and the cafe were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Had a great hour on a 2 person kayak with my daughter. Despite being in the school holidays it wasn’t busy but we booked ahead just in case. We started off with an excellent bacon & egg cob from the cafe and then were well looked after getting life jackets and were given a waterproof pouch for our mobiles with an option to store them safely also. Nice stretch of the canal and very relaxing, may try the paddle boards next time, definitely recommend visiting.

We visited for the first time yesterday and what a beautiful place. The area is immaculately kept. The walk along the canal is stunning with lots to see and is very well maintained. The public toilets were very clean with everything stocked up. We stopped and had a breakfast in the cafe which was delicious and the little shop next door is wonderful. We will definitely be returning.

Went paddle boarding on the Chesterfield canal. Parked at Hollingwood Hub and paddled to Tapton lock. Staff in the visitor centre were lovely and very helpful. We had some locks to negotiate on the way but it was okay. It was a really lovely place to paddle. Nice calm stretch of water and lovely sunny weather which helped.
