Great staff and quirky cafe, but the exhibits are faded. The HoM was the place to visit in the early 2000s, and the staff are still fantastic, but it’s well overdue a renovation. Lots of the original exhibits are broken or pared back. Video loops are stuck, “interactive” exhibits simply don’t work and the roundhouse figurines do not move as they once did. We couldn’t get the Celtic cross video to play at all, and none of the “hear their story” exhibits on the first floor worked. In the Sea of Masts section, all of the voices - which once spoke separately - shout over each other simultaneously. The outdoor courtyard is closed and covered in bird poo and the interactive ferry upstairs has gone, while there’s no longer any water in the longboat room. I do resent being sold a full price ticket when more than half of the museum is no longer in good working state. If you are short of time, visit the excellent Manx Museum instead which is frequently updated for new exhibits. All that said, the staff are enthusiastic and welcoming and do make up for many of these shortcomings.

A very beautiful museum. You feel like you're on a film set, the individual rooms are so detailed. And there's a great deal of information about that era, both in written form and in films. I highly recommend it 👌👌👌

Super exhibition, a must visit on the zislebof man, so informative and life size displays add to the experience. A shame about the young unruly children running and screaming through all the exhibits. I blame the 2 ladies accomoanying them at a slow pace behind.

The museum also has reciprocal agreements with some organizations like the National Trust, but it's best to confirm this with them directly before your visit... The House of Manannan offers a highly engaging and family-friendly journey through Manx history. While it may show its age in small areas, the general consensus is that its innovative storytelling and immersive atmosphere make it a standout attraction. I hope this candid overview helps you decide.

This is a fantastic place and a must visit on the island. The history flows through as you go through door one all the way to the end of museum. A number of interactive items are available as you go through too. The full size viking ship is absolutely fantastic and it makes you think about how they survived using them to sail the seas. This place is very much worth a visit just watch out for bus trips so you don't get slowed up.
