Ride miniature steam and electric trains operated by enthusiast volunteers in this historic 65-year-old railway attraction set within Hove Park.

Hove Park Railway is a beloved heritage attraction operated by the Brighton & Hove Society of Miniature Locomotive Engineers (BHSMLE), offering visitors the unique experience of riding authentic miniature trains. The railway features a continuous raised track spanning approximately 2,000 feet and operates steam, electric, and other model-engineered locomotives that showcase decades of engineering expertise and passion. The venue has been a fixture in Hove Park for over 65 years, with its current iteration developed following extensive reconstruction in the 1970s and after the devastating 1987 hurricane. Visitors can enjoy rides on these carefully maintained miniature trains while experiencing the dedication of the society's volunteers who continue to build, maintain, and operate the railway. Located at the north end of Hove Park in Brighton & Hove, Sussex, the railway is easily accessible by public transport and foot from nearby Hove and Preston Park railway stations. The venue benefits from Hove Park's outdoor setting and nearby Hove Park Café, making it ideal for families seeking a nostalgic, educational experience. The railway operates on designated open days throughout the year, providing a charming attraction for all ages interested in model engineering and railway heritage.

Amazing little railway with live steam and electric trains. Not always open I think they gave a Facebook page?

The Hove Park Railway is operated by the Brighton and Hove Society of Model Locomotive Engineers. They provide a great, fun, safe, and educational experience. The volunteers are of all ages and are very passionate about the hobby and many have real-life experience from working on full size railways. They run fortnightly open days from spring to autumn and are always popular with all ages.

Lovely little miniature railway run by volunteers (check their website for running days). Located within a fantastic park so great for the kids and the whole family. Take a picnic or visit the cafe. Has a great playground and there’s often ice cream vans alongside the park during the summer months. Also vans selling hot drinks, cakes, etc. Free roadside parking. Make a day of it!

Fantastic. So unusual and loved by adults and children alike. Staffed and owned by train enthusiasts, this fabulous railway is a real delight. Over 600m of small gauge track, and a brilliant selection of colourful locomotives - all for a pound. See website for opening times.
