We visited as a family group and had a brilliant time on the walk up this extraordinarily beautiful river gorge. Ex army instructor Chris Jackson led us and shared great info on geology and wildlife as well as being a lot of fun and safe. Highly recommended!

An absolutely fantastic experience; it's a great adventure to walk along the rocky gorge and follow the river. The cave experience was lovely too! After our walk we had a nice cup of tea in the cafe to warm up and the views to the gorge from there were super beautiful!

Went on a caving experience with our 2 kids aged 7 and 8 - absolutely brilliant! A short drive away went into the tunnels underneath the river nidd with instructor gregg who was excellent - highly professional , knowledgeable and clearly an expert in this pushed us just the right amount but always felt safe. The cave systems are incredible with underground rivers and abseils - I’d have been terrified to go more than a few metres myself but Gregg took us deep underground squeezing through tunnels I wouldn’t have dared try. We had a wonderful and memorable day that we’ll all remember thanks gregg

Me and the boy have just had a class weekend here. We rented one of the cabins, the Loft, for two nights. Got there Friday night, settled in, slept well. Then the main event on Saturday morning. 0930 caving with Instructor Dave. Turns out just us in this session too so it was like I’d booked a private session. Our Harry was a little nervous but Dave was great with him from the beginning to the end. We had an epic time, exploring two caves all morning. We were both buzzing about it. We had a class lunch in the cafe, little man loved the glass floor over the gorge. Then after lunch we chilled in the loft cabin for a bit then went into the gorge and Tommy Taylor’s cave and counted 35 cave spiders! By the end of Saturday we were both knackered so slept well again. Sunday we checked out and went home via Stump Cross Caverns which are also worth a visit. What a weekend we had. Thanks to all the team at How Stean. We’ll be back for other activities for sure.

We stayed on a Friday before the wedding and Saturday night. The owners kindly lit our private wood-fired hot tub so that it was only needing topping up with wood when we arrived around 5pm. We were the video photography team for the wedding in How Stean Gorge Cafe, so didn't have time to take advantage of the exciting adventures available in the gorge itself. The staff did wonders getting all the delicious food out in time, and vegetarians and other special diets were all catered for. The cabin itself was very cosy, even without the fire lit in November 25 and there was plenty of hot water for showers an d washing up. The local pub was also great for our meal on the first night.
