Surprisingly big, free of charge, with great details and exhibits on history of east riding

Fantastic place. Well set out, some amazing artifacts and collections. Went with my 5 and 9 year old who were absolutely fascinated. The grounds themselves are beautiful too, would definitely recommend. Could probably spend 2 hours maximum, however we saw other museums in the immediate area so you could probably make a little day out of it.

Hull Maritime walking tour was excellent. The guide Anne has an encyclopedic knowledge and made the tour super interesting. Thoroughly recommend.

Another brilliant free museum and a must see.. directly opposite the street life museum..an incredible collection of bones,fossils,coins,swords and items buried with dead.. amazing old ship wreck.. stunning mosaics,old village streets with audio..a very impressive collection of artifacts

From the outside, you don't realise the size of this museum and it is quite a warren of different rooms. This forms part of the Hull museum quarter, with each one being free to visit (but donations appreciated) This is also the Museum of Archaeology so the rooms take you from the dinosaurs to the middle ages but all from a local perspective. I do really enjoy visiting local history museums and I did come away with a greater knowledge and understanding. I was particularly impressed with the Roman mosaics. Good for all age groups and there are lifts for pushchair/disability scooter users.
