Explore one of South Ribble's major parks featuring a children's playground, woodland trails, wildflower meadows, ponds and a café in a historic landscape.

Hurst Grange Park is one of South Ribble's three major parks, set within the former estate of Hurst Grange Mansion in Penwortham. The 13-acre site features an attractive landscape of specimen trees, woodlands, wildflower meadows and ponds, offering visitors diverse natural environments to explore. The park has maintained a prestigious Green Flag Award every year since 2005, reflecting its high standards and appeal. Families visiting the park can enjoy a well-equipped children's playground, cycle paths with dedicated parking facilities, and the Coach House café for refreshments. Public toilets are available throughout the site, and a visitor centre and events space host regular activities. The park's combination of recreational facilities, natural habitats and historic setting makes it ideal for families with children of all ages seeking outdoor activities in a well-maintained green space. The park's history dates back to 1848 when it was created as the estate of Lancashire judge William Adam Hulton. The landscaped parkland has been preserved for public enjoyment since 1936, when Preston Rural District Council began purchasing the land as a public green space. Today, Hurst Grange Park remains a valued community asset offering free access to nature, play facilities and heritage interest.

Lovely park with a good range of seating and play equipment suitable for ages 2-12. The play area is enclosed by a fence and there is a younger play area with sand one end, a climbing net, swinging rope and swings in the middle with an older play frame with slides the other end. You can sit and have full view of your child across the whole of the play area. First time visiting and won't be the last :)

Great place to take a walk, walk the dog, take the kids to the park, or just relax. Beautiful surroundings with plenty to keep your little ones entertained.

A super, mid size park with open areas, wooded areas, ponds, a well kept and safe children's play area, plenty of benches. A wonderful café that does super food and has loos. Good pathways that are wheelchair friendly, and it's dog safe. ( But requests to keep them on a lead).

Lovely place for a walk with or without a dog. Nice children's playground that's fenced off. The old Penwortham Hill Rovers changing rooms has been converted and renovated into a cafe . It recently had an opening ceremony with dignitaries. Three of the ponds have had new fencing erected. It looks much better now.
