We took the dogs for a walk and swim. We didn't know it was the Ilkley marathon so we cut our visit short. Fab park and the river is easy to access with the dogs. The ducks weren't bothered by the dogs. A word of warning - if your dog isn't a swimmer don't throw your balls into the river as you'll lose them to the current.... Luckily one of ours is a swimmer - the other claims the rescued ball on dry land! Definately worth a family visit. We'll be back.
Great for young children. Public toilets next to the pub, 40p charge Really large gated park, lots of equipment. Swings, slides, see saw, for all ages. Zip line, spider web, sand pit . Large grass area for picnics or play . Please be aware the river runs alongside . There is a car park or off street parking. Pub that serves food, or a chip shop and outdoor picnic seating.
We stayed a couple of nights in Ilkley. Beautiful town, there is a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. Lots of walks to do starting from the town centre. Car parks and on street parking available. We couldn't explore everything in 2 days so we will be back 😁
Spent a great afternoon at Ilkley River Gardens & Playground with two 10-year-old boys and a 5-year-old girl — perfect spot for a mix of outdoor energy and relaxed fun. The large playground kept the younger one busy, while the older two enjoyed a game of football in the open green spaces. There’s a great mix of play equipment including zip wires, assault courses, climbing frames and more — plenty to keep kids entertained for hours. The park sits in a beautiful riverside setting with loads of space to roam, explore, or simply enjoy the scenery. Ideal for families looking to burn off some energy or enjoy a slower pace in nature. Refreshments: The nearest food option is Riverside Fish & Chips, which also serves pizza — quick, tasty and really convenient. Toilets: Clean and well-maintained. Just a heads-up — they’re 40p and card/contactless only, so have your phone or card ready. Top tip: There's a public table tennis table tucked away behind the hotel. Bring your own bats and ball, or ask at the hotel reception — they sometimes lend them out for a small deposit. All in all, a brilliant, easy-going day out. Plenty to do, gorgeous surroundings, and everything you need nearby. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day there. We had a nice walk along the river. We sat and had ice-cream. There was busy places for kids and tranquil places if you wanted peace and quiet. We will definitely be visiting again.
