Set in beautiful landscaped gardens with wonderful views. After paying the exorbitant entrance fee, luckily one of us was a member, so no extra for parking, despite seeing 3 people with walking sticks not a mention was made that there was transport to take you up to the house. And even worse, the woman driving the buggy saw us and with no-one on board drove off towards the house, REALLY? Was she on a tight schedule or something? So we walked, we try not to let anything stop us. The house itself was lovely, and it must have been wonderful to live in. It was so nice to hear the man playing the organ and the exhibition of fashion upstairs was good but a disappointment. No men's fashion and no child's fancy dress that was played on the VT. Also no bedrooms or kitchen to look at. After something expensive to eat in the garden cafe we went to the dairy, it was closed for a refit, no mention of this at reception. A walk to the chapel which was worth a look and then back to the beginning. A quick cuppa and a look round the gift shop. Would loved to have walked some of the beautiful grounds, but that was beyond us. Overall the NT are very mercenary, there is no need to charge for parking, despite charging a fair amount of money for entrance there are multiple donation points. At least on the plus side we were not pestered to join as has happened previously.

We had a lovely time surrounded by flowers and nature. However, the ticket was a bit expensive — £18 per person to enter both the house and the gardens. There wasn’t much to see inside the house; only four rooms on the ground floor, while the first floor was unfurnished and mainly used to display some historical clothing. Overall, it was still a pleasant visit, and we really enjoyed our time.

Killerton house and gardens has to be one of my favourite National Trust locations the location has a beautiful backdrop into the countryside with some spectacular views. When entering the staff a friendly and polite and happy to give you information you need. Our first stop.was the cafe where we enjoyed some pasties and cappuccinos then we continued along the quaint pathways which take you around the estate. The house itself is very interesting with a piano being played as we walked in. You follow throughout the house with some lovely oil paintings on the walls and information to explain the history. Outside there are plenty of benches to sit on to rest or take in the views. One building I found interesting was the bear house where a nice board outside explains how it got its name. Before leaving we went into the shop and bought some nice souvenirs. It was busy when we went so it is very popular. I would visit again in the future. Overall a lovely day. Please check out my photos below.
