Lovely walks and good visitor centre. Particularly liked the Bruntis Loch trail.

We walked the Orange Trail on a lovely sunny afternoon. Having breakfast in the visitor centre beforehand which was delicious! Beautiful scenery and rock skimming in the lochs made for a wonderful afternoon out. 100% recommend for a casual walk but more challenging routes available as well as cycle routes. Orange trail was also suitable for walking with a pram as well, tried and tested by my 10 month old son :)

This was our second visit to Kirroughtree Forest, this time we attempted the blue bike route, didn't manage all of it though. However, it does take you through some beautiful parts of the woods, the tracks were well maintained. Finished off at The cafe, which is well worth a visit. The food was excellent, especially the pizza, the staff were exceptionally helpful. There was also a pine martin and red squirrel hides, unfortunately we didn't see any, but there is a camera, which h you can watch in the visitor center. Parking fee's apply, however if you only have cash, use the meter next to entrance.

Wonderful place to visit.. great for walking or on a bike... Large carpark, visitor center with cafe and toilets.. plenty of seating inside and out...play area outside for the kids, grassed area for a picnic... Various trails for varying abilities, well signposted and well kept...We took the yellow trail, through the large bicycle wheel, which lead us through the woods to Little bruntis loch, where our dog had a lovely cool swim..Our route went around the loch, before descending back through the woods to the visitor center, took us about a hour an half, nice steady stroll and a doggy paddle... Hiking trails and bike routes cross on some sections, everyone seemed friendly, dogs walked free...

Lovely day out. Various levels of walks for every ability. Even have a wheelchair friendly one. Visitor centre has lovely meals and toilets. Also a mountain bike centre where you can hire a bike if you haven't brought yours. Many trails for the bikers too
