This is just a fantastic site - absolutely beautiful location, and a fascinating historical site, with a lot to look at. Although it's an English Heritage site, parking is free. The attached parish church (who receive no income from EH, but do have a donation terminal inside) is also well worth visiting, making up part of the original abbey. The tearoom next door is not EH. It was exceedingly busy when we were there - it's clearly a popular local hub even mid- week.

Great place for a short pitsop and there is a cafe/ shop next door. Plenty parking and good walks. This was built using materials from the nearby Hadrians Wall. Some remnants remain nearby such as Hare Hill and Banks East Turret 52a.

More than friendly staff that gave us a warm welcome with a smile. Smaller site where you can sit and enjoy the scenery . Tea room around the corner.

It is great to visit in January when there's hardly anyone else about. Although the Priory is closed to the public this time of year, you can still see this wonderful structure by walking round the side path. The historic graveyard is good for quiet reflection, giving an insight into infant mortality. The church is a joy to visit. I believe the cafe is open all year round. You can get to the Priory on foot from Brampton - a fairly flat and easy going route across country of about two and a half miles. The Hadrian's Wall 1 (HW1) bus will also get you there and back.

The active church is wheelchair accessible but the ruins are not. The embankment is far too steep to wheel down safely unless you don't mind tipping over! Plenty of parking, gift shop and cafe. Friendly helpful staff and dog.
