Had an exceptional tour, the engine in steam. Such knowledgeable guides, an ex miner with world experience, along with his grandfather having worked there, followed by engine man with oil in his veins, so interesting. Lastly but not least the guide explaining about the man lift shaft disaster of 1919.. Oh how well covered, with such sensitivity and respect. Would absolutely recommend.

Place full of history! lots of parking available (for a small fee) you can spend time looking around the old engine house, the ruins of the mine or take a tour. Loved it. Very scenic spot as well. Try it for sunsets!

Fantastic tour. Very engaging and passionate guide. Gorgeous views, lovely walks. We spent a number of hours here walking around and to and from other mines and on the coastal path. Will definitely be back.

I would absolutely recommend to visit this place. Pre-booking is required, there is a car park and toilet facilities as well. They show you two of the shaft entrances, the boiler house and the beam engine which is still working! It is amazing to see such a wonderful machine at work! I got to know a lot about mining, it was very informative! Great for people who are fascinated with history. You can also walk around the site to look at the remains of different buildings.

You must book to get in , small parties cos of limited space in building. I was a little early for mine and spent time wandering the ruins to see old arsenic kilns etc and walked along coast path to lighthouse. If you want to do this wear proper footwear as the paths are rough in places. The history of the mine and mining practice was fascinating and to see the steam beam engine working was too. The guides extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Think I saw toilets but no refreshments.
