We were lucky enough to have our civil wedding ceremony and intimate canapé reception at Lightwoods House in February 2025, and it truly was everything we had hoped for and more. From our very first meeting, Laura and the entire events team were incredible, but Laura deserves a very special mention. She was our wedding coordinator and went above and beyond throughout the whole planning process. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and she was always happy to accommodate any changes we wanted to make. We had several meetings to go through every detail, and her organisation, professionalism, and attention to detail gave us complete confidence that everything would run perfectly on the day. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. We fell in love with its period charm, stunning grounds, and intimate atmosphere, which made it the perfect setting for our wedding. Our guests commented on how lovely the venue was, how welcoming the events team were, and how delicious the canapés were, which were provided by the catering company next door. We were also pleasantly surprised by how competitively priced everything was. The level of service we received far exceeded our expectations, especially for a council-run venue. Our wedding day was truly magical, and we’re so grateful to Laura and the team for making it such a memorable experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lightwoods House to anyone looking for a beautiful, intimate wedding venue, whether you’re planning a ceremony indoors or outside in the gorgeous grounds. Thank you for giving us memories we’ll treasure forever. ❤️

Absolutely stunning Venue, with all the help you could possibly need! We hosted our Besties Baby Shower here, hiring the Marquee and Shakespeare Garden space, and it was absolutely breathtaking! Sarah was super helpful and responsive via emails particularly for the booking process. Mandy and Laura are a Phenomonal Duo! They did everything possible to ensure we had all the support we needed, truly made the day stress free and extra special, thank you so much all! Highly reccomend!! 👌👌❤️

Lovely garden situated in a beautiful really large park with long walkways. The building itself is old with tight walkways, archaic lift that you have to press and hold all the way to your desired floor, and it opens up to 3 doors one on each side (and one of those doors is the men’s toilet) it’s unbelievable. What were they thinking when the built this place? The stair railings look like the would fall if you lean on them too much. Anyways, nice place except the building hence the 4 stars.

We had our wedding at Lightwoods and it was absolutely amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and truly made our day so special. The manager was especially lovely and supportive throughout. At the end of the night, the staff cleaned up all our tables and carefully packed everything away into our boxes, which made collecting everything the next day so easy and stress-free. The whole day was perfect, and the venue itself is absolutely beautiful. We couldn’t recommend Lightwoods enough. Skate park was amazing along with the gardens and staff made sure the accessible ramp was fixed before our wedding due to us having guests who required it.

This park has a nice open grass area that includes both a kids’ playground and a small skate spot. The car park is quite limited in size and closes from 6 PM, which isn’t very convenient. However, you can easily find parking in the nearby streets with very close access. I’m not sure about the general accessibility, and I didn’t notice a designated picnic area with tables or shelters – it looks more like an open space rather than a proper picnic area.
