Lilyput Lane

Gateshead, United Kingdom•4.7(109)•Play Café, Soft Play Center

Explore a child-sized street filled with role-play venues like shops, cafes, and doctors surgeries, plus vehicles, trains, and creative activities for children aged 7 and under.

Lilyput Lane is an engaging indoor play centre designed specifically for young children aged 7 and under. The venue features an open-plan layout that prioritises safety while allowing children the freedom to explore and play independently, with excellent sightlines for parents and carers throughout. The centrepiece is a charming child-sized street complete with fully themed and equipped rooms including a police station, family house, beauty salon, café, shop, veterinary surgery, and doctor's surgery. Children can role-play across these different scenarios, developing imaginative and social play skills. Beyond the main street, additional play areas include a miniature road with traffic signs and traffic lights where children can ride various vehicles, train tables for track building, and car tables for driving toy vehicles. Creative play is encouraged through a dedicated construction area with bricks and tools, a dress-up zone offering costumes from princesses to superheroes, and a craft room where budding artists can create and display their work. For younger visitors, a calm baby area provides age-appropriate toys and a comfortable relaxation space with cushions and books. Parents and carers can relax in the on-site café while supervising their children, and the venue provides baby changing facilities in both male and female bathrooms, making it convenient for families with very young children.

First visit today, went on line, paid my fee, arrived to nobody asking for proof of who I was or if I'd paid, literally just walked in, a little worrying that anyone could enter the place without scrutiny, maybe this should be looked into, other than that my Grandaughter had a good time...

First time visit and a great local hidden gem. The play area was safe and the numbers for the session really well managed, there was lots for my little one to keep themselves entertained and the playtime had a fantastic structure. A good selection of food and drinks available for adults and children. It could be a little difficult to find if you aren't familiar with the location and parking behind is limited but other options are close by. Would definitely recommend for a playdate or rainy day.

Visited today with my children, the place is filthy to be honest. I haven’t been here since 2019. So my first visit in a while. The baby area is just so dirty every toy was dirty. The seating area is dirty. Children need clean spaces especially babies. I was very disappointed to be honest. The staff aren’t welcoming either. No smiles, no customer service. This place needs a good clean a some new staff. I couldn’t take many photos because I wanted to avoid getting people’s children but some photos to show

What a great place for the kids, lots of toys and things to do and lots of spaces to explore. The space is warm, colourful and inviting. And there's a nice cafe for snacks and drinks for both kids and adults can get a nice cuppa too. Prices are very reasonable see pictures. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Brilliant play cafe, super clean and tidy and the time allocation is fab. Feels very well ran and have been back more than once. Will be bringing friends next time! Love it, can't recommend it enough. Booking is super easy online as well which I loved.
