Lovely place, access up a steep switchback that says no large vehicles but fine in a car. Interesting history and loved the sound effects. Lovely gift shop too and a cafe though we didn't try that. Everywhere is dog friendly which is a bonus.

We had a great time here, exploring the disused slate mine. Lots of informative boards on the way around. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, excellent self guided tour to learn about the slate mining industry. There is a staircase to go down a level into the caverns but not too difficult. It was so interesting, and made me realise just how hard they worked. You are provided hard hats from reception. There are toilets and a small, free car park up a short, steep hill. The lady at reception was so lovely and knowledgeable, and seeing the fans the apprentices had to make was amazing. I have to encourage you to buy the cheese they age in the caverns, it's so nice!

Absolutely amazing, great fun and to learn about what it was like to work in the mines in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The information you learnt about the living conditions back then and then comparing it to today’s world. I would highly recommend going there again and booking it for a nice family day out.

The Slate Caverns were actually really amazing! I won't lie, at first I wasn't exactly brimming with excitement to go in and look around, but I'm glad I did, because the caverns are loaded with tidbits of history about the lives of the miners down to what type of wages they earned for the back breaking labor they performed, and, that a lot of times they had to rent/buy their mining equipment from the mine owners and would more often than not end up owing money at the end of the month. Aside from this though, the sheer magnitude of the caverns and depth, and everything is awe inspiring. I'm very glad I kept my initial recalcitrance to myself and went in, and if you have a "seen one mine, seen em all" type of thinking...stop it, lol! It's great and the gift shop and shop keepers were also wonderful as well! Great souvenirs and kind people!
