It is a peaceful hidden gem in the Welsh countryside. The tranquil lake, surrounded by woodland and wetland habitats, offers a wonderful escape into nature. It’s a fantastic spot for birdwatching and quiet walks, with a real sense of unspoiled beauty. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or simply looking for a calm place to unwind, Llyn Celanedd is a truly special place to visit.

Not the best of walks if you want a good clear un-obstructed views across to Yns Mon. Better using Porth Penrhyn as your start and finishing place.

Seeing a Kingfisher was a Bucket List item for me. At a local fair, a Welsh guy on a Cheshire Wildlife Trust stand said Spinnies was the place to go. So, I arranged to spend a couple of days in the Bangor area. Made 2 consecutive daily hour long visits to the Spinnies. The first day we saw Kingfisher(s) flying by, amazing moments. Went back the second day to try to get a photo of one but didn’t see any at all. So I wouldn’t say you are absolutely guaranteed to see them here, but I’m pretty happy with the tip to visit!

50+ swans, oystercatchers, egrets, terns, white ducks... Lots of action at low tide today. Bring your binoculars! We didn't and missed out.
