Maryon Park

London, United Kingdom•4.6(375)•City Park, Nature Reserve, Playground

Explore a Green Flag Award-winning wooded park with hilly terrain, children's playground, sports facilities, and Thames views along the scenic Green Chain Walk.

Maryon Park is one of Greenwich's most acclaimed green spaces, having retained the prestigious Green Flag Award. Originally a quarry and part of the historic Maryon Wilson family estate, this large hilly wooded site offers visitors a diverse range of activities and natural beauty. The park overlooks the River Thames and features the Green Chain Walk running through it, connecting visitors to a wider network of green spaces. Families can enjoy a well-equipped children's playground suitable for all ages, hard-surface tennis courts available for booking, and a basketball court for recreational play. The park also hosts a community food-growing area, created by local volunteers on what was formerly a council nursery site, adding an educational and sustainable element to the visitor experience. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate that Maryon Park, combined with the adjacent Gilbert's Pit area, was designated as a Local Nature Reserve in 2005. The park's wooded landscape and diverse habitats make it ideal for wildlife spotting and outdoor exploration. The venue gained cultural significance as a filming location for Michelangelo Antonioni's 1966 film 'Blow-Up,' a surreal murder mystery set in swinging London. With free entry and accessible facilities, Maryon Park welcomes visitors of all ages and abilities.

Antonini’s Blow Up was filmed here by the tennis courts. Love it for that alone. Nice park on the London Green chain.

Small local park with a community garden club inside. I drop off my vegetation waste (from my Bokashi bins) to the local garden community. Great place to walk dogs, take children (little park inside) tennis courts, and a few park benches to sit down.
