Mayfield Park Playground

Manchester, United Kingdom•4.8(218)•City Park, Playground

Explore Manchester's first new park in over 100 years, featuring a kids' play yard with 6 slides, a daylighted river, and 142 trees across 6.5 acres.

Mayfield Park is a vibrant 6.5-acre public park in Manchester's heart, designed as a sequence of carefully landscaped spaces that offer something for everyone. The park's centerpiece is the newly daylighted River Medlock, one of Manchester's founding rivers, which winds through the site creating a natural focal point and wildlife habitat. Families with children will love the dedicated kids' play yard featuring 6 imaginative slides woven around the river landscape. The park also includes multiple landscaped spaces with different characters: seating areas, a quiet contemplation zone, a wildscape for biodiversity, and numerous walking routes suitable for pushchairs and all ages. With 142 trees, 120,000 shrubs and plants, the park provides a lush green environment for relaxation and exploration. The venue is designed to be inclusive and accessible, with facilities including toilets with baby changing units and water refill stations throughout. Dogs are welcome throughout the park (though not in the Play Yard), and the park is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, making it perfect for early morning strolls or evening visits. Picnicking is encouraged, though BBQs, alcohol, and large structures are prohibited. As Manchester's green lung and a celebration of industrial heritage, Mayfield Park combines sustainability initiatives with family-friendly amenities.

Such a lovely park. I went when it first opened and the weather was nice. It was clean and safe. There was a security person and there is no smoking which I love. Just been back a couple of years later and altho it was not the best weather, the park is still outstanding. I don’t live locally but it’s a 5 min walk from Piccadilly station. Totally accessible for everyone and anyone. Coffee/refreshments available on site and Freight Island next door for food hall

We had a wonderful visit to Mayfield Park, one of the best playgrounds we've taken the boys too plus the added bonus of the Cathedral of Sound art guitar installation which the kids were obsessed with. They've done a fantastic job with this park, we will definitely be visiting again

Great park. Would be perfect with some rain canopies and more picnics benches. But very good overall. Great slides..open area with river. Little cafe and ice cream van.

Fantastic park in a usual place, but it's been made beautiful ! It's great to see wildlife in the middle of piccalilli ! We saw an otter in the stream ! The park is fantastic for all ages ! The added bonus of a coffee cabin, ice cream van, toilets, and benches overlooking the green space. Little piece of paradise in the city !

We have great fun in this playground, have 2 separate visits within 24 hours. Very popular. Modern design, all metal construction, rope bridge interlinked towers, multiple slide options, include one that will take you across the river. There are windows on those long slides. Usual swings, see saw, roundabout n balancing beams. Parking options, on street parking in the form of unmarked roads on and adjacent roads to chapelfield road. Off road parking is available at the other end of the Mayfield park.
