Mill Park Reserve is a pocket park and nature reserve situated on the edge of Long Buckby in Northamptonshire, established in 1983 on the site of a former village rubbish tip. This volunteer-run registered charity has been transformed into a thriving habitat for local wildlife, offering families accessible outdoor spaces to explore and connect with nature. The reserve features two ponds with carefully managed water systems, a bog garden, wildflower meadows, and mini woodland areas planted with trees native to Northamptonshire. Visitors can enjoy observation platforms overlooking the stream, including the popular Kingfisher Cove, along with seats and picnic benches throughout the site. Additional attractions include a butterfly garden, human sundial, and extensive range of nest boxes for birdwatching. Accessibility is a key feature with mostly flat terrain, grass paths and boardwalks (1m wide) throughout, though some paths can become muddy in wet weather. The site is suitable for all ages and family groups looking to experience the outdoors, get fresh air, and observe local wildlife in a peaceful woodland setting. Volunteers run working parties on Saturday mornings, and the field centre is available for group bookings.

Lovely place with lots of nature, a pond,a small river, apparently a kingfisher visits the river too. Benches available for picnics

Lovely nature reserve although our dog stayed on her lead to prevent her hippo / muddying. Lovely place and nice that we didn’t see rubbish, top going and we enjoyed it. Thank you

Amazing place to explore with the kids! (Dogs too!! 🦮🐕‍🦺🐕) all run by volunteers, who do an amazing job! Lots of wildlife to spot, ponds and a stream. My kids love walking around exploring here!
