Beautiful country park to visit. Paths not easiest for mobility scooter and a few 'steps ahead' signs would help wasted journeys and need to double back. Lots of space for young and dogs to run safely. Well cared for and lovely beach to enjoy at the bottom with grassed area. Cafe and shops available next to house and at sea front. Ferry over to Plymouth too.
A large National Trust site with plenty to explore along the paths, great if you have a dog. Lots of areas to sit and chill or have a picnic with friends or family. The house and private gardens are the only areas you need a membership for and were closed on the day we went so if you want to visit these, make sure you check the opening times.
We only visited the gardens today. If you want to look around the house you need to pre-book your visit. There is a great view across to Plymouth and Drake's Island. It was very windy when we visited but as we went further away from the sea it was better. There is a café The Orangery, we didn't use it this time but the cakes looked delicious, there is also a small building just through the gates where they sell drinks and snacks. We are planning on going back later in the year.
Beautiful place with beautiful views. The house and its history are magnificent as was our guide Brad. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Really enjoyed our visit
The House and Grounds are an easy day trip from Plymouth. The guided tour of the House was superb and hugely enjoyable. Highly recommend. You can get the Cremyll Ferry from the Royal William Yard and return on the scenic 70 bus from the harbour.
