Recently visited this museum, brilliant experience. Bigger on the inside than I imagined. A large amount of older busses to see and experience. They also have heritage days and various things for people to join in with.

A fantastic museum showcasing old and new I went during the weekend of their "acsess for all" weekend, and it is a good use of the rear of the queen's Road depot.

Fantastic little day out. My 3 year old especially loved seeing the old train and going on the buses. The little tea room staff were so friendly and the food and drink was so reasonable, £1 for a toasted tea cake. Highly recommend especially if you love buses as there is a great gift shop as you go in and out.

My son adores this place and we visit frequently, the staff are always so welcoming and the range of displays and information are brilliant! It’s always great to see the restoration projects in the background also! Grab yourself a brew and one of the children’s fun packs and away you go!

The Museum of Transport is an absolute gem for anyone fascinated by the history of road travel, particularly buses. Stepping inside feels like a genuine trip back in time, largely thanks to the incredibly preserved collection of classic vehicles. ​The highlight of the museum is undoubtedly the sheer number of old school and public service buses, each telling a unique story of local and national commuting. You don't just admire these relics from a distance—you can often climb aboard and truly immerse yourself. Seeing the driver’s seat of a vintage bus, with its massive steering wheel and old-school levers as seen in the photo, is a powerful reminder of how hands-on driving used to be. The front of the old Leyland bus you captured, with its classic "Temporary Conductor" sign and clear route details, perfectly evokes the era of bus conductors and manually changed destination blinds.
