This is a spectacular and outstanding museum next to the Tallyllyn Railway- Tywyn Wharf Station. The museum as you can tell is dedicated to the Narrow Gauge Railway and the history of it and it is also free admission to get in. There are some informative and interesting display panels about some areas of the country served by Narrow Gauge Railway and there are some interesting artefacts such as Steam engines and also railway memorabilia which is great to see and also great nostalgia. The museum is small but is a great way to walk around in between the trains departing from Tywyn Wharf and learn some interesting history. Overall a magnificent and Great place to visit making for an interesting and brilliant day out. Well worth a visit whilst in Tywyn.
I could spend at least a month here studying every item and learning the history of narrow gauge railways. The museum contains a wealth of knowledge the likes of which I have never seen in my life. I found my visit enlightening, inspiring and uplifting. I would like to sincerely thank Frank Nolan and all of the staff I had the pleasure of meeting during my visit. You have my deepest gratitude.
Honestly one of the best days of my life was just spent here. Such a beautiful museum with a life and history like you wouldn't believe. Such a nice staff, from cashiers and the cafe crew to the chairmen that I met while I was there, and definitely a lot of praise to Frank Nolan who guided me through it all, couldn't have asked for a better day
Fantastic museum for enthusiasts of narrow gauge railways and the stories of Thomas the Tank Engine. I visited during the Awdry Extravaganza 3 and saw a great many of relics on display. The staff were very kind and helpful, even allowing me to take pictures of my personal model on the original Ffarquhar layout. Can't recommend enough. My only regret is not getting a picture of my model sat next to the original Thomas. Oh well!
Fascinating visit and to see a replica room of the great writer and former worker here at the railway well worth a visit as the museum is free
