A great place to visit, and very informative. It does a great job of explaining the Civil Wars with clear timelines and a logical layout leading you through the conflicts. There are a lot of videos featuring actors and reenactments that help bring things to life, and the collection though small is very interesting with carefully chosen items and some very surprising finds. Sir Thomas Fairfax's wheelchair was a real surprise. Does a good job of looking at the civilian as well as military side, and linking it with local history in Newark. The museum also includes interesting local exhibitions which would be well worth a stop on their own. It's very well thought out for children as well with lots of activities. It leads from/into a walk around the town centre very naturally, and the entry fee is excellent value for money. Well worth making the trip specially if you're interested in Civil War history, or visiting if you're in town and want to know more about the place. A shout out to the staff and volunteers, including people in costume who can add a huge amount of information and context.

Enjoyable. It's not too big that you are overloaded. Plenty of information and exhibits spread over several floors. (Some are tiny due to the constraints of the building). Reasonable for kids with activities available. Lovely café. Parking is close. Wheelchair accessible.

What a fantastic visit today, highly recommend a visit, history,experience, fabulous staff very friendly and helpful so much to see and do , the short films are a must to sit and watch and learn , 5 levels to explore , there is excellent facilities from the lift to the gift shop , cafe , toilets. What a little gem! Visited for the first time with our grandchildren & found it most informative. Staff were helpful & friendly. Well worth a visit.

Worth a visit if your in the area and costs £8 for an adult entry. Gives an interesting insight to the English Civil War especially in the Newark area and the short videos are worth watching. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. There was two rooms which were empty and these could do with some displys in them.
