One of the best days out in the New Forest, this outstanding motor museum is set within acres of grounds that include a magnificent country house, beautiful gardens, a historic ruined abbey and waterside woodland walks. The museum itself is the main attraction, with a huge and incredibly varied collection of cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles from the dawn of motoring through to the present day. Exhibits are very well organised, with 5 sections covering the different eras of motoring, all backed up with well presented information displays and automotive artefacts. There's something for everyone, from the early horseless carriages to land speed record vehicles. At the time of my visit, two special exhibitions were running outside the main museum, one showcasing TV and movie cars, the other popular family cars from the last few decades, the latter of which had an interactive element as you could get in the cars. Exploring the grounds, you can admire the immaculate planting and topiary in the Victorian Flower Garden and Kitchen Garden, relax in the peaceful surroundings of the "Wilderness" Garden, an early spring highlight, and enjoy a walk alongside the Mill Pond. For those who'd rather be spared the walk, the monorail is a great way to see the estate from above. It travels along an elevated track, offering a unique aerial perspective of the gardens and museum. The Veteran Bus is another memorable way to see the estate, connecting the restaurant and Palace House. The house itself is a fine country residence, with an interesting mix of preserved historic rooms, and recently redecorated rooms showcasing striking artistic designs. Inside are exhibits covering the lives of members of the Montagu family. The abbey is an interesting place to explore. It dates back to the 13th century, and while it was largely destroyed in 1538, some elements survived. These include the church with its fine interior, and the Domus, which houses an exhibition on medieval abbey life. There really is enough here to occupy more than a full day, so I'd advise arriving at opening time to make the most of your visit. Onsite facilities are very good, including a large gift shop, restaurant, well maintained toilets, and plenty of free parking. The "Little Beaulieu" play area has plenty to keep young ones occupied. Adult tickets were £24.80 at the time of my visit in 2026, representing good value for the very high standard and variety of attractions.
Visited as a group of four adults on a busy day. Finding Beaulieu and parking was nice and easy. I was disappointed that during our visit several of the exhibitions and some of the interactive displays throughout the site where not in working order. We visited the cafe for lunch and this was extremely poor and disorganised. It cost about £120 for us to enter and about £80 in the cafe, I thought this was poor value for money. The car displays were impressive and nicely maintained. The palace house and the abbey were beautiful.
Outstanding- so much to see, everything is included in your price to get in what is really good as we thought there would be extras for it. Loads to see and do. Spent a full day out there even in the rain. Make sure to ride the bus and train too and visit all the buildings. Cafe wasn't to bad on price for a snack and drink, will go again when on holiday in the area 😊 Also amazing that some of the cars you can get in too!!
A brilliant day out at Beaulieu, always worth a visit when in the New Forest. Great to walk round looking at the cars, motorcycles and other vehicles on display many with a fascinating history especially the sports cars. The grounds and buildings are impressive too and beautifully kept. Plenty of parking, the cafe is reasonably priced the cakes are pretty delicious too. Plenty of places to picnic and relax on the grass if you want to bring your own food.
So much to enjoy. Main restaurant food we had a burger and chips and Victoria sponge. All delicious, burger looks home made fries frozen type but all good. Main car museum so many vehicles something for everyone interested in vehicles. Monorail was great. Church and ruins supper interesting. The home was really interesting to look at inside and out.amazing gardens. Save a whole day so you can really enjoy everything. And a big thanks to all the staff and the owner for making the place a real treasure for everyone to enjoy.
