We had a good time visiting this wonderful property maintained by the National Trust. We seemed we were travelling in time, more than 4 hundreds years. The house and the gardens are amazing
I most thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Baddesley Clinton it's one of the finest examples of an Elizabethan moated manor house in England. I strongly recommend a visit here. I'm a member of the National Trust I didn't have to pay anything, but if even if you had to pay it's worth it. A real gem hidden in the countryside near Warwick. The interior of the manor with its wood panelling and oak flooring is exquisite, and the gardens beautiful . Learning of its history was interesting and the three priest holes used to hide |Jesuit priests in the 1700's were a surprise. Baddesley Clinton, it's name is derived from an Anglo-Saxon called badde and ley meaning a wood, from this we get Baddesley. In 1290 it became the property of sir Thomas Clinton and from this we get Baddesley Clinton.
The car park does get busy here! Lovely place to spend time and unwind from life. The house is full of character and history and well looked after. The ducks and geese here are more friendly then the staff! I don't think I've seen so many wondering about the place at a national trust before! One duck thought he was Part of our family and followed us round. Magical place. Will visit again in future.
Another jewel in the National Trust Crown. The moated manor of Baddesley Clinton in Warwickshire is an absolute must visit. A lot of history through the centuries. The house tour is great including Priest Holes from the 16th / 17th centuries. Plenty of parking is available a short walk from the house. Thoroughly recommend.
Good size carpark with only a short walk to the office and gift shop. House visit via a time ticket which is no problem as you can have a coffee in the cafe or go for a walk to the church or the garden. Once in the house be prepared to duck at doorways. The rooms seem a little dark but this is to protect the paintings. The staff were very friendly and helpful explaining the history of the house.
