National Trust's Headley Heath is an absolute gem that truly captures the wild beauty of the Surrey Hills. If you're looking to immerse yourself in nature, enjoy stunning views, and find a real sense of peace away from the everyday bustle, this place is an outstanding choice. What makes Headley Heath so special is its incredibly varied landscape. You'll discover vast expanses of open heathland, tranquil woodlands, and classic chalk downland, all offering different experiences as you explore. The views from the higher points are simply breathtaking, stretching far across the surrounding countryside and making you feel like you're miles away from anywhere. In summary, for anyone seeking beautiful landscapes, excellent walking opportunities, and a truly tranquil natural setting, Headley Heath is an absolute must-visit. It's a testament to the National Trust's dedication to preserving these precious spaces. Highly recommended! 🌳🚶♀️🐶🦋
Fantastic woodland and parkland with beautiful countryside walks and stunning views. Couple of car parks so plenty of parking but need either the Just Pay app or coins. Pathways are mostly gravel with some grass areas so can get muddy in the winter. Some steep gradients which are more challenging but worth it for the excellent views. Great for dog walks or for a nice stroll amongst nature.
Beautiful place for a general walk or hike. We managed to hike near Box Hill, and turn back to Headley Heath. There’s plenty of trails to choose from. The terrain varies in places, we did face a few inclines but there’s equally plenty of flat land if that’s what you prefer. There’s a couple of benches next to the car park for a picnic. Parking is free for National Trust members.
What a beautiful place and full of amazing walks. We did a 7km walk and it has a bit of up and down but fairly manageable. On a sunny day, the walking path has enough shade and the overall path is clean and easy to navigate. There is an ice cream can also till 5pm, in spring/summer time. If you are not a national trust member, you have to pay for parking.
Great location to enjoy walks in the countryside through Heathlands and woods. There are many trails and much to explore with some beautiful views. It's very tranquil as you get further away from the car park. There are trails for walking and dogs are welcome. On a lead in some areas due to livestock. There are bike trails and bridleways too. Whilst they are some quite hilly parts they can be avoided. There are two car parks. The main one is quite large and has a food truck ( not National Trust ) Entry is free to all but there is a charge to park if you are not an NT member. There are no toilet facilities on site Definitely a place you could visit numerous times and take a different route each time.
