An absolute amazing visit. There is a lot to see and experience both in the house and a must, visit to the gardens. All staff were better than brilliant and again, highly knowledgeable about the house, history and past owners. Nice and busy when we went but still lots of space to move really easily without getting in the way. The cafes are great and well staffed and cater all sorts of drinks, ice cream and light snacks. We enjoyed watching the trout swim along the small river and gather under the entrance bridge. Visit the art gallery, a must.

We went on a very wet June day. We returned again on a lovely sunny day this weekend as we loved it so much. Walking along the river is beautiful. The gardens are very pretty with so many different plants. We ate here on both occasions and found the food and drinks lovely (especially the curried chickpea sandwich and rhubarb and ginger scone).

Great day out arrived around 11.45am. Car parks were getting busy. Lovely gardens maintained great by the staff and volunteers. Interesting house great volunteers explaining the history. Last visited around 4 years ago at to return to see and smell the Rose's magnificent 👌 Bought a coffee and a cold drink café doing a good trade. We took a picnic in a way could do with a few more benches around the estate for the elderly. Highly recommend a visit.

An extensive property with some interesting architectural features inside and outside. Somewhat sparsely furnished in places, though all of what is present is of interest and in keeping with the general style of the property. Nice views to be had from here out across the lawned areas. During my visit there was also an art exhibition being hosted here, but for me that did not even get a look in when there was a most spectacular display of natural art to be seen in the Rose Garden literally next door.

This is a beautiful National Trust property, we visited on a sunny Sat afternoon and even though the parking was quite full there was lots of space and not a lot of crowds. Lots of family’s and groups were having picnics on the grass or sitting in the sunshine at the restaurants. The walled gardens were beautiful and the scent from the flowers was incredible. We would like to go back in a few weeks to see the roses in full bloom. There is also a long walk you can do along the river, and the water is so clear you can see the fish. We didn’t stop for food but there are lots of places where you can eat.
