Amazing place to stop and visit the moors. Great walks. Lots of wild horses, ponies and wildlife. Very peaceful and quiet. There is a Brook nearby with a fast flowing stream. The Sand pits to the side. There are long tracks across the moors which lead into forest areas. There are benches hidden around and fallen logs which you can sit on. Lots of amazing colors and smells will awake all your senses. A must visit if you're in the area.

I picked this walk using the New Forest app and really enjoyed the variety of views along the way. The car park is a good size, though smaller than some of the other New Forest hiking spots. Worth noting there are no facilities here (no toilets or coffee van), although in the summer I’ve seen an ice cream van parked up across the ford. On my walk I saw plenty of ponies, including a group of 14 together, such a lovely sight! A peaceful area for walking with easy access into the commons.

Beautiful place to stop and have a picnic and admire the scenery or for kids the amazing sand hill! Free parking and a Ford to paddle in plus lots of new forest ponies and horses to admire plus donkeys and the odd cow near by :)

Loved our time in The New Forest over the last few days so beautiful this series of photos shows views of the Avon river on the A338 going towards Fordingbridge. The scenery was just stunning.
