Fantastic estate. Lots to do and see. Snugbury’s ice cream in the courtyard was lovely too. You can go for a nice long walk around the estate too.
I would never have thought that Nostell Priory is that spectacular. I visited today on June 13, 2026 in the afternoon. Before I came there I didn’t know about the largest collection of furniture actually made by Chippendale. It’s works famous and I didn’t know. The exquisite and most elaborate artwork and handicraft in the state rooms. Breathtaking dining, sleeping and study rooms, a huge library, etc. The artwork: Pieter Brueghel the younger, William Hogarth, Angelica Kauffmann. Thomas Rowland who painted Thomas Moore and his family after the original from Hans Holbein. Unfortunately the original got lost. What a treat! Most of all the most friendly volunteers. They know so much about the history of the house and were happy to explain everything. Particularly the lady who was in charge of the study room and the lady who was in charge of the room where they kept all the documents and maps. She has been a volunteer for the National Trust for roughly 20 years as she told me. A million thanks for your service!
Beautiful place definitely worth visiting. The interiors and ceilings are absolutely stunning and full of character. There is a large park and an interesting garden perfect for a relaxing walk. Big parking area available — £5 for the whole day. Highly recommended for a day out.
Loved this place. Great scenery. Everyone should come for a visit you wont be disappointed if you love grand houses and amazing grounds. Also the cafe was buzzing with happy people enjoying the food and sunshine sat in the spacious courtyard. The scones were delicious.
My second national trust property I'm visiting with coming away from English heritage. Lovely place with a separate courtyard area consisting of somewhere to eat and a gift shop. The main house certainly has plenty to see and has very helpful people guides to ask any questions you have. We also walked around the gardens which has a large pond/lake and play area for children albeit a bit run down. Give this place a visit it's a lovely day out.
