This is a lovely place to come for a walk. You are surrounded by the sea. The views are beautiful. There is plenty of parking. The parking is free for NT members. There’s no toilets around. There is sometimes an ice cream van in the car park. We walked all the way down to St Helens Bench. It is a bit rocky and uneven, so I would recommend wearing a good pair of walking shoes. This is such a nice few hours out.

A great place to ‘get in touch with Nature’, with rugged terrain, surrounded by sea, blown by wind. Easy parking, free for National Trust members (who know their membership numbers) and the whole walk, there and back, takes anything from 45 to 90 minutes, or longer with a picnic.

Sand Point is picturesque. But the National Trust car park is very cratered and includes severe speed bumps. It's free to National Trust nembers and otherwise paid, but the situation is a bit complicated. You can pay via the JustPark app. Even if you are a National Trust member, you have to use that app to register your membership number for each parking session. You can do that retrospectively during the next day or so, if, for example, you don't have your National Trust membership number, or you can't get a signal. You will need the location code, which is nowhere to be found online. I had to phone JustPark to get it. At time of writing in early 2026, that location code is 998937. You then have to make a dummy zero online payment if you are a National Trust member, and a real one if you are not. The location code is different from what it used to be three years ago, shown in another review, because the parking provider has changed. If you don't have a vehicle with high ground clearance, be careful you don't bash the underside of the car due to the surface.

We had a lovely walk along the beach. We parked in the far car park (National Trust) which you pay by app and it was £5 for yhe while day (regardless of which it is). The tide was out and it was a hot sunny August day, perfect for the a walk with my two little granddaughters (3 and 6). We walked along the beach to the car park with a bus stop and ice cream kiosk. We ate are picnic and them bought a lovely ice cream and walked back along the beach to build. Sandcastles.
