Awesome place. Very well kept. Friendly staff. Lots to see and explore. Home grown vegetables to buy! A sad reason fot workhouses of course. This one had proper stiĺ living thete in the 1970s and 1980s. Well worth s visit.

Today I visited The Workhouse in Southwell with a group from work. It was fascinating to learn about the lives of the people who lived and worked there and to explore one of the best-preserved workhouses in the country.

This is one of the best National Trust properties we have visited. The Workhouse is incredibly informative and gives a fascinating insight into a part of British history that isn't actually that long ago. What really stood out was how well the stories and exhibits help you understand what life was like for the people who lived and worked there. Walking through the building, you can genuinely get a sense of the hardships, strict routines, and difficult conditions that so many people endured. The staff and volunteers were knowledgeable and helped bring the history to life. It's a thought-provoking visit that stays with you long after you've left. We visited as a family and found it both educational and engaging throughout. A fantastic National Trust property and one that we would highly recommend to anyone interested in social history.

Plenty of parking. Visitor centre, grounds, and buildings all clean, well presented with good signage. The displays and their information were comprehensive, well laid out, and easy to understand. The staff/volunteers were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The cafe was clean, with a good selection of snacks, light meals and drinks. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

We had a wonderful visit to The Workhouse and Infirmary National Trust. The volunteers truly brought the place to life, answering questions with enthusiasm and spreading festive cheer throughout the day. The re-enactments of life in the Workhouse, the stories of past residents, the pauper choir singing carols, and the dancing entertainment all made the experience memorable and engaging. A special mention goes to Tony, who went above and beyond in explaining the details of the rooms and answering all of our questions with warmth and depth. His knowledge and friendliness made our visit even more enjoyable. Janet, who welcomed us at the reception, was equally delightful, and attentive, ensuring we knew about all the events happening that day. We walked out with three mice in authentic costumes. Overall, the combination of history, atmosphere, and the dedication of the volunteers made this visit outstanding. Highly recommended!
