We had a lovely visit to the museum overall. We were greeted warmly by the gentleman at the entrance, who gave us a map and explained the layout, which made us feel very welcome. The museum itself is interesting and well presented. I would say, however, that the name “National Wool Museum” is perhaps a little misleading. I had expected more about the wider history of wool, sheep farming and fibre crafts across Wales, whereas the focus is primarily on the history of wool production at this particular mill. That said, it was still fascinating to learn about the site’s history and processes. The machinery wasn’t running during our visit, but the videos explaining how everything worked were informative and helped bring the mill to life. The only disappointing aspect was some of the live demonstrations. One person demonstrating spinning appeared very disengaged and didn’t seem interested in interacting with visitors. When I tried to ask a question, I didn’t receive a response, which was a shame because demonstrations are such a great opportunity to share knowledge and enthusiasm. Similarly, there were a couple of other craft demonstrations where the volunteers didn’t appear particularly keen to engage. I appreciate that they may have been concentrating on their work or perhaps interaction wasn’t expected, but as a visitor it felt like a missed opportunity. A little explanation about what they were making or why would have made the experience much richer. Despite that, we really enjoyed our visit and ended up spending quite a bit in the gift shop, which had an excellent selection of books, yarn and locally made products. With just a little more engagement during the demonstrations, this could have been an exceptional visitor experience.

This place is a living museum. Turning the clock back over 150 years or more .Old machines restored to full working order .making beautifully designed woolen cloth .fascinating to watch these old skills coming back to life. And it's FREE TO ENTER THEY ASK IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE. BUT NO PRESSURE. A GREAT PLACE not to be missed we loved it . Lots of staff on ga d to get you carding tge wool and having a go at spinning it . Great fun and educational for the whole family. Ladies were spinning the wool into thread it was fascinating to watch. The lovely Janet made a most amazing jumper about Liverpool with all the song titles on it worth going just to see that a d shes 91 still making these patterns up as she goes.

An outstanding museum. I was stuck by how friendly and informative the staff, who were all bilingual which really helped as a Welsh learner. The curator even helped identify my own Welsh blanket from a photograph. From start to finish all staff were outstanding, even at the very end when happened upon the natural dye garden on my way back to the car. I had a wonderful lesson on the colours and techniques from their resident gardener. Food was great too, a proper fresh salad with local produce.

We loved this museum. It showed the process from sheep to yarn, the machinery was amazing bought to life by very knowledgeable staff, facinating and informative. It has a lovely cafe and shop.

My favourite museum all around Cymru!!! Everyone makes you feel so comfortable and welcome! You can see these big machines working as well, i didn't expect that! Clean toilets, parking, cafeteria, craft area for the kids, and a library with chairs to relax and all that for free! Of course you can donate and they deserve it 100%. You'll learn a lot!
