Taking first steps as a mueseum. Positively, being a mueseum outside of its size, I believe that they had made a good setup of it all. One example is their dioramas of animals & areas - they slightly with a 3D experience consisting of a setting & taxidermy. I loved it because it felt like you were really in that space when I was usually never this way. My problem is is the size & the children's area in a wrong place so it felt awkward to walk through children with coughs. It also made it seem childish for my age. Also, it was not as big as I expected but the dioramas helped. Overall, if it really did have an intention, it's intention would be MY FIRST MUESEUM EXPERIENCE for youngsters.

Lovely little museum, free of charge, lots for kids to look at. Currently capping visitors at 30 at a time but it is a small space so understandable. Good for a short visit max 1hr before the kids would get bored.

A free museum that's definitely geared more towards kids so families are well catered for here. Don't go expecting a museum on the scale of the Natural History Museum in London, this is far from that scale. This museum is very small but it houses enough content that you could easily whittle away half an hour or more if you come with the little ones, who'll find plenty to keep them educated and entertained. As mentioned before, the museum is free so if you happen to be a family that's visiting Colchester, definitely come visit this museum converted from what once was a local Church.

A nice little place with a surprising amount of things to look at! It's completely free, no bookings necessary, and the staff are charming. I'd recommend going to the other two museums close by if you want to make a decent day out of it!

Great 1-2 hours of fun at the museum. Little one had lots to do and see. The creation stations with feathers, glue, googly eyes and paper plates was so fun. Great addition of the free sanitary products in the toilets too.
