I wish I could give this more stars. It's one of the best local museums I have ever been to... If not the best. So fantastically organised, informative and with lots of maps for context. The volunteers were kind and welcoming. They were really knowledgeable too!

Absolutely packed full of local history and artefacts, with some great displays detailing historic locals and their contribution to the area. Some nice exhibits showing how we used to live and work, with lots of period relevant memorabilia to fill out the displays. Staff were lovely and friendly. Short walk through the village from any of the parking places, with lots of good signposts to show the way.

Such a good find and such good value! We went with our two children (2 and 7) and we all loved it. Each room/space was interesting, engaging and fun. There were activities as well as information so nobody got bored or missed anything. The volunteer staff were so lovely! They couldn't do enough for you and were so kind. Would 100% recommend and will visit again.

Whilst having a weekend break in North Yorkshire i discovered what I feel is a hidden gem of local history. Value for money at £5 per adult gets you an insight into how the locals lived during Victorian times, war times and life in general in the black n white days so to speak. The museum is split into sections each unique in its own right. Lots of local photos help you paint a picture. There is the first TV that was purchased in the area at a cost of £85 which in today's money is circa £3000. They have set sections up to look like it did in the day, a shop, a solicitors, a living room, etc etc Staff are very enthusiastic local volunteers who can't wait to tell you some of the history. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying in the area or just passing through
