Experience Blackpool's iconic Grade II listed pier with live theatre shows, family entertainment, bars, and 160+ years of seaside heritage.

North Pier is Blackpool's oldest and most historic pier, designed by celebrated Victorian engineer Eugenius Birch and opened in 1863. This Grade II listed landmark stretches into the Irish Sea and remains a working entertainment venue featuring a 1,500-seat theatre at its end, hosting comedy, music, family shows and seasonal productions. Visitors can enjoy multiple experiences across the pier: catch live performances in the historic theatre, relax at the Merrie England Bar (operating since 1904), enjoy drinks at the Carousel Bar and Sun Lounge, or spend time on the open sea-facing deck. The venue also features event spaces including Bloom, a contemporary sea-facing event space opened in 2020. The pier is family-friendly and accessible, with step-free access to the deck and main venues, assistance dogs welcome, and accessible theatre seating available. With its combination of live entertainment, heritage attractions, bars, and arcades, North Pier offers a complete seaside day out suitable for all ages.

Such a lovely pier with so much to do. There are loads of food & drink options, plus plenty of rides & games for the kids. It was really windy when we visited, but we still had a great time. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

This was the last pier we tried whilst we were away. It was our favourite by far. So much quieter than the other 2. It's like pier's used to be like. Got a theatre and bar at the end.

A lovely walk on the pier, a small train going up and down the pier for you to have a ride. Plenty of space and seats to be able to people watch. A lovely atmosphere. Plenty going on.

I visited the North Pier on a breezy afternoon and ended up staying far longer than planned. There’s something calming about strolling out over the water, watching the waves while the coastline stretches behind you. Great mix of classic seaside charm, little attractions, and places to sit with a drink and just enjoy the moment. It’s a lovely blend of history and simple pleasures — easily one of my favourites

This one is hard to rate as the pier itself is closed in the winter and the surrounding area is borderline destitute and rundown. However, I went there on boxing day during sunset to watch the mermerations and it was beautiful. Seeing the swallows all gather just as the sun was setting, with beautiful light, was a magical sight. Generally, this part of the world has some of the most wonderful sunsets I've seen anywhere on the planet. Especially if you catch the sunset after there's been heavy rain throughout the day. It makes for very dramatic clouds and stunning colours.
