Quite surprising what's there. Lovely gardens, not too neat and woodland area to loose yourself. Fascinating museum of archaeological interest with plenty of artifacts on display. Nice cafe too. Staff very helpful and friendly throughout the site.

Been here twice now. A secluded area with great access from walking and biking paths. The Priory ruins are interesting to walk around and the remaining standing portions of the Priory are stunning. In addition to the Priory there's a museum that houses examples of local finds as well as items that compliment the Priory's story. There's a children's play area and and plenty of room for kids to run around. The café, which is part of the complexe, has free toilets. The carpark is also free and has plenty of space. Well worth a visit. Staff are very nice and chatty, also a mine of information about the site.

My husband and I are members and we have just returned from a lovely breakfast there and a breath taking walk. It's such good value for money and is calm, tranquil and beautiful. I would urge anyone to join. £65 per year for the two of us and all ages of children go free. Amazing history, regular workshops, meditations and solstice celebrations, walks, family events, the list goes on. Marvellous.

We visited mid March to see the ghost sculptures, having enjoyed seeing the ones around York, but were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the museum. The exhibits are all in great condition, the main gardens make for an enjoyable walk and the walled garden, just starting to come to life with beautiful Snakes head Fritillaries and Magnolia, was a flurry of spring gardening activity that I assume will pay off a bit later in the year. Bees and butterflies were already about, and birds were singing with it being a sunny spring day. We had some delicious chocolate fudge cake from the cafe. My favourite thing though was being able to take our dog everywhere around the museum - she was particularly curious about the stuffed platypus.

Interesting place to visit. Lot of local history. Pleasant country walks. Dog friendly. Nice café.
