To visit such a great museum at such a low entrance fee - we paid 2pounds each. It's run by volunteers, limited opening times, so you got to plan carefully. When we visited the museum yesterday there was quite a crowd of visitors before us, many people chatting away with the volunteers like there's no tomorrow. After the crowd had gone we got some information about the big water pump that worked on that site for many years (it's demonstrated on sunday last each month I think), we learned about lace making by machine and could try to morse the alphabet - not as easy as it looks. They got a woodworking shop where a volunteer and a small boy carved a mouse out of some wood, in the next room a longbow was carved. The steam engines are worth seeing! There's a little gift shop as well, a tea room and outside the walls is a wonderful park. Parking fee was 5 pounds,

This place is a marvel. We learned a lot thanks to the volunteers who explained the machines to us and showed them working. A great place for any intelligent person.

I highly recommend a visit to this little gem of a museum, there is so much interesting stuff and the history behind it too, suitable for a quick whip round or get into detail and read all the info. The volunteers we met were engaging, chatty, knowledgable and friendly, could not do enough for us. It’s clear so much love and attention has been poured into this place over decades by so many volunteers. So important to maintain our shared history in this way. Price very reasonable. They also have a famous black cat that is a right cutie - we found him in the wood workshop.

Incredible museum in Nottingham, rich of gems from the industrial history of the city. Very interesting and super affordable price for what they offer. It hosts a huge steam engine which is still operating - they demonstrate the functionality every last Sunday of the month.

We weren't holding out much hope for this museum as the entrance price was so cheap, but it is absolutely wonderful. The staff are so knowledgeable about all of the Nottingham brands on show, and are happy to answer any questions. We particularly enjoyed the lace making section and the gentleman who explained everything was just wonderful. You do have to pay for parking which was £6 for the whole day, but this gives you access to Wollaton Park too so very easy to spend a whole day out
